Chop and drop mulching is where the wood and leaves from a support plant are chopped off and dropped directly on the ground to mulch in place. This is a common permaculture technique for food forests practiced at a time when precipitation exceeds evaporation in that particular area, usefully during fall or winter or a rainy season.
